Building God’s House: A Call to Bold Faith, Generosity, and Unity

In a world filled with uncertainty, the church stands as a beacon of hope. It is more than just a building—it is the people of God, united in faith, prayer, and purpose. This past Sunday, we witnessed a powerful moment of unity as a congregation gathered around a young couple dedicating their lives to full-time ministry.

The beauty of the church is found in these moments—when the body of Christ lays hands on, prays over, and supports those who are called to go out and spread the Gospel. But as we reflect on their journey, we must ask ourselves: Are we building our lives on the rock-solid foundation of Christ? Are we engaging in the mission God has given us?

A Church That Prays, A Church That Moves

Prayer is at the heart of everything we do as believers. When the church came together to intercede for this couple and their children, it was a reminder that nothing we do matters unless God goes before us. As they embark on their mission, their request was simple yet profound:

  1. That God would move in the hearts and minds of the people they will minister to.
  2. That their marriage would remain strong and centered on Christ.
  3. That their children would be protected and upheld in the faith.

This is the posture we should all take—not only for missionaries but for our own lives. We must recognize that without God’s presence, our work is in vain.

Why We Give: A Generous Church Reflects a Generous God

As the church transitioned from prayer to giving, there was an important reminder: generosity is an act of worship. A special offering was taken up, not out of obligation but out of joy for supporting those who have answered God’s call.

So often, we view tithing and generosity as transactional. But Scripture tells us that everything we have—our breath, our resources, our abilities—comes from God (Deuteronomy 8:18). He blesses us so that we can bless others. The church is not just a place to receive; it is a place to give, to invest in the work of the Kingdom.

Are we holding onto our resources too tightly? Or are we giving with open hands, trusting that God will use our offerings to advance His mission?

The Church’s Core Mission: Reaching the Lost, Equipping the Found

Throughout the service, the mission of the church was made clear:

  • Reaching the lost – Sharing the Gospel face-to-face and through digital platforms so that every Alaskan, and beyond, can hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
  • Transforming culture – Standing boldly for biblical truth in a world that desperately needs it.
  • Building Christ-centered World Changers – Raising up a new generation of believers who will live out their faith with courage and conviction.

Matthew 28:19-20 reminds us that Jesus has all authority and has commanded us to go and make disciples. This is not just the pastor’s job. It is our job—yours and mine. The question is: Are we actively participating in the mission, or are we standing on the sidelines?

What Are You Building Your Life On?

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:24 that those who hear His words and obey them are like wise men who build their house on the rock. Storms will come, but the house will stand firm.

What foundation are you building your life on?

If it’s career, status, or comfort—it won’t last. But if it’s Christ, you will stand firm no matter what trials come your way.

The church is not a social club or an event to attend once a week. It is a movement of God’s people—equipped, united, and ready to shine His light.

A Call to Action: Be the Church

This Sunday was more than just a service—it was a call to action. A call to:

✅ Pray – Intercede for those serving in ministry. Pray for your own family, your neighbors, and the lost.
✅ Give – Be generous with your time, talent, and treasure. Support the work of the Kingdom with joy.
✅ Engage – Step into your role in the church. Join a small group, serve in a ministry, and be part of the mission.
✅ Be bold – Don’t stay on the sidelines. Share the Gospel with courage and conviction.

The young couple being sent out is just one example of what it means to live on mission for Christ. But the truth is, we are all called to be missionaries—in our workplaces, our schools, our families, and our communities.

So today, ask yourself: Am I fully surrendered to God’s calling? Am I part of the movement of His people, or am I just watching from a distance?

It’s time to step up. It’s time to go all in.

The world is watching. Let’s be the church that builds its house on the unshakable foundation of Christ.
